Missing files or unreadable storage

Data Recovery Assessment in Los Angeles

If files are missing or a drive will not open, stop before trying more recovery tools. Tell us what happened. We assess suitable readable storage and explain when physical damage or another problem needs a specialist lab.

Tell us what happened before trying another fix

Deleting a folder is different from a drive that clicks or repeatedly disconnects. Keep the affected device off when possible. Describe the symptoms before installing recovery software or running repairs, which may reduce the chances of recovery.

  • Device type and approximate storage capacity
  • When the files were last available and what changed
  • Important folders or file types and any existing backups
  • Unusual sounds, liquid exposure or repeated disconnects

Recovery work we can assess

We assess transfer and restore options from readable storage, deleted-file or filesystem recovery on suitable devices, and the condition of existing backups. Work is scoped before it starts. Physically damaged, clicking, intermittently detected or electronically failed devices may need specialist equipment; we explain referral options before a handoff.

Know the costs before a recovery attempt

The written quote separates assessment, recovery work, pickup, replacement storage and any third-party fees. It says what you pay if the attempt fails. We agree which files matter most and explain any partial result. Additional charges need approval; recovery is not guaranteed.

How your files are returned

Choose the destination storage before delivery. We check selected priority files with you, identify known missing or unreadable items, and return your original equipment. Temporary copies are kept and deleted according to the agreed schedule. Backup setup can be added separately.

Before you book

Can you recover everything?

No service can promise that before assessment. Overwritten data, severe physical damage and missing encryption keys can prevent recovery. We explain the likely options and limitations before paid work.

Should I keep scanning a drive that clicks?

Stop using it and arrange assessment. Repeated attempts may worsen a physical failure. Tech Genie does not open sealed hard drives or perform cleanroom work.

Do I pay if no files are recovered?

The approved quote states the unsuccessful-recovery policy and any assessment, pickup, shipping, donor-part or specialist fees before you commit. We do not promise a blanket no-data/no-fee policy for a third-party lab.

Can you collect the computer or drive?

Scheduled pickup and delivery may be available after checking your ZIP code and the job scope. You receive an inventory and agreement; there is no walk-in storefront.
